Knowing a foreign language is nowadays a mere necessity for social and educative reasons. To form part of the European Community it is absolutely necessary to know a foreign language because it is essential in any modern society. Day by day we depend more on other peoples and on other countries and to understand these relations more profoundly it is important to know a foreign language and, above all, to know English. By being able to communicate in this language we are able to reduce frontiers and barriers which have existed for a long time among different countries.

Knowing English makes it easier to move from one country to another or to find a better job, which at the same time means to advance from the economic point of view and to have a “better” life. The Spanish society is absolutely involved in this process and every day more and more people decide to work and live in countries belonging to the European Community but this would never be possible if they did not manage foreign languages, or at least English. In general, the Spanish incorporation in the European movement makes it more and more necessary to count on people who are able to develop within in communicative context and a cultural exchange, this is why speaking a foreign languages provides children a different perspective for their future and they will have the chance to learn a foreign language a very short age on which will help them a lot in their future career. Learning a foreign language not only shortens distances with the foreign culture but also makes the knowledge of the mother tongue and culture much more profound. Linguistic costums are “translated” into ...(falta)

Only by studying a foreign language students will be able to communicate with other linguistic societies, value different lifestyles and cultural ideas possitively and thus learning a foreign language will contribute to the development of a feeling of social and cultural tolerance. Besides, students will have the opportunity to get jobs and carry out professions which they would never be able to achieve if they did not study or know a foreign language.FALTA.

As far as general aspects of formation are concerned we can say that by learning a second language the students´ communicative competence improves in general with the acquisition of new concepts, strategies, abilities, attitudes and linguistic codes. (Falta) The process of acquisition of the new language is reflective and helps to stregthen the knowledge of one´s mother tongue. (falta)

Summarizing we can say that the aim of learning the new language will be the message and the discourse understood globally and arising from texts. It will also be considered that the messages carry an additional charge of cultural and social meanings which is necessary to be interpreted so that communication turns out to be coherent and adequate. Teaching Programme constitutes an attempt to answer three questions related to our intervention in the classroom, that is to say: what, how and when to teach.

For Gimeno y Pérez (1.989), “…understanding programming as an intermediary step or link between teaching theory or curriculum, teaching practice means discovering the complexity of this mechanism. The design is not a well-defined dexterity and teachers must learn how to carry it out in a mechanical way. It requires formulating an entire theory to the curriculum from the principles of action to specific practice”.

Thus, we can define the programme as a “set of ordered and sequenced didactic units”, based on the concepts teachers have about teaching and more specifically about the curriculum. This task demands two steps: planning and distributing the learning contents, and planning and setting the time devoted to the learning and assessment activities. All this, has to be done considering the following variables:

- The educative context of the school.

- The students’ age and characteristics which make each group different from the rest.

- The teachers who act in the process.

- The space where their training takes place and resources.

- The teaching Centre’s Project and specially the Curricular Project for the Stage, to which it must be closely related.

The current educational legislation puts much emphasis on teaching foreign languages by extending the number of hours used for this subject as well as by evoking the relevance of the knowledge of foreign languages in the European Union. The basic legislative acts on which this syllabus is based, therefore, are:



Law 2/2006, on Education, of May 3.



Crown Decree 1513/2006, of December 29, which establishes the minimum contents and structure for Primary Education.



Decree 230/2007, of July 31, of the Junta de Andalucia, which establishes Primary Education in Andalusia.



The Order of August 10, 2007, which develops the curriculum of Primary Education in Andalusia.



Law 17/2007, on Education in Andalusia, of 10 December.
